Make Your Own Bath Soap

These days, it pays to trim down our expenses. After all, every penny saved matters. Perhaps, the best way to do this is to start on the things that we often use. One is our bath soap. Lathering our skin with soap gives a very refreshing feeling. Hence, we love to do this as often as we can. However, this means more consumption on this product as well. Hence, the solution is to learn how to make one. This way, you don’t need to spend as much.


  • Guava leaves
  • Sodium Hydroxide (“lye”) – in powdered form
  • Lavender Scent (or any scent of your choice)
  • Stove
  • Clean container


  • Put a small amount of water on a pan and let it boil with the guava leaves on it.
  • After the water has boiled, strain guava leaves from its extract.
  • Pour extract on a clean container.
  • Add sodium hydroxide on the hot water.
  • On the mixture, drop 3 teaspoon of guava leave extract.
  • Mix a tablespoon of lavender scent.
  • Continue mixing. Your goal is to come up with a viscous or thick mixture.
  • Leave the mixture on its container and allow it to sit there for one day. After 24 hours, notice that the solution solidified.
  • You can now start using your home made bath soap.
