Enjoy the Beauty of Camiguin’s White Island

Your visit to Camiguin will never be complete without going to its famous White Island. This is a white sandbar having a horseshoe shape but the tides reshape and resize the island from time to time. You need to ride a pamboat from Mambajao and sail for 1.4 kilometer to reach this topmost tourist destination. It is interesting to note that this place is devoid of any shelter, trees or plant of any form. All that you can see are white sands which mainly compose the island. According to its locals, the tides overflow this small island at night. Hence, for this reason, no one stays overnight on this place.

How to Get There

The best time to sail to White Island is early in the morning around 5:00 am. This way, you can enjoy the place without suffering the scorch of the sun. You just need to sail there from Brgy. Agoho. If you are staying in a resort, you can ask assistance in your transportation from them so they can arrange it for you. We happen to stay in Agohay Villaforte’s ocean cottage resort which is fronting White Island, making it easier for us to get there. If you are going there on your own, you can go to a port near Paras Beach where all pamboats going to White Island are docked. Round trip fare will only cost you PHP 450PHP ($10.5 USD). You can also take the longer route coming from Bgy. Yumbing in Mambajao.
