Cost of Living in Singapore 2014 Prediction

In the past year, I have tracked my living cost for the whole year. Today is the 1st day in 2014. It’s time to summarize the performance of last year and predict the cost of living in 2014.

In 2013, I have get S$515.02 dividend income from SSE Composite Index (Stock market in Shanghai, China). The number in 2012 is S$488.10. But according to the last day of 2013, my stock price is decreased by 28.25% in the last 3 years (from 2011). Comparing with stock market in US, the Dow Jones Index and Nasdaq Index, the performance of SSE is just sucks, even though I can get stable dividend.

The cost of living 2013 is quite high, though I already tried my best to reduced the daily expense. But I still cannot stop the daily cost going up. My landlord notified me that he would increase the rental fee in 2014 by another $25. Hence, there is no doubt my cost of living in Singapore will increase in 2014.

In 2013, I also submitted my PR application to ICA Singapore to try my luck. It will take about 4 or 6 months for them to process. If Singapore government doesn’t want to lose immigration policy, it will be still hard to get it.

In 2014, the most important thing is finding a new way to make more money. After one year saving experience, I just realized that there is a limitation for saving. Some basic cost cannot be omitted. For example, the rental fee, which is around 50% of my total expense in each month, keeps rising in the last year. And I guess, the greed landlord will attempt to increase it again and again in this year. If my salary doesn’t get increased, I will leave the Singapore in the end because of the high rental fee. For you, my dear readers, it is the most important part to consider if you have a plan to work in Singapore.

Another important plan in 2014 is I want to share some saving tips on my website, not only my expense. So everyone can get help from my experience. I will also share some tips like how to have a delicious dinner with low cost. Though stuff in Singapore is very expensive, there are lots of cheap goods we can get from Malaysia. In 2014, I will hold my stock share though those share get cheaper and cheaper in last 3 years. I believe that the economy in China will cover because of the new government policy.
