Day 1 in Singapore: Marina Bay

My wife’s flight will reach Singapore in the middle of the night. She will stay in my place, HDB located in Boonlay. The first day is a busy day. In the later morning, we will go to Chinatown by MRT and walk to Maxwell road food centre to have our breaklunch. It may take us about 10 minutes walking there. Just exit from China Town MRT station and walk through Pagoda Street. Then turn right on South Bridge Rd and go straight ahead towards Maxwell road. Maxwell road food centre is in the corner of the street. It is a very famous hawker centre in Singapore. Everyone living in Singapore will know this place. It is famous for Tian Tian chicken rice, Zhen Zhen porridge, black pepper char siew noodles, and Jin Hua sliced fish bee hoon.

When we finish our breaklunch, we will pay a visit to Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. It is located on the South Bridge Road. You will pass it when you are walking to Maxwell hawker center.

After we leave Buddha temple, our next destination is Clarke Quay. We can take bus or take MRT to reach there. At Clarke Quay, we will take the Singapore River Cruise to go Merlion Park. Meanwhile, we will enjoy the beautiful view along the Singapore river.

Merlion Park is located at Marina Bay. The opposite is Marina Bay Sands and ArtScience Museum. After paying a short visit at Merlion, we go along Marina Bay and have a rest in a small bar in Marina Bay Sands. By the way, you can play a little bit in the Casino in Marina Bay Sands if you like.

Our next scene is Garden By The Bay. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden. The Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest are the two must-go place. Another place we prefer to go is the OCBC skyway.

The last place in our list is Singapore Flyer. To reach there, we will go through the Helix Bridge. It is a very beautiful bridge in the night. The Singapore flyer trip will take 30 minutes. We will enjoy the most beautiful night view of the whole Singapore city.

10 Places You Must Visit In Singapore

I just finish my day 1 plan. Here are the 10 places we will visit in day 1:

  • Maxwell Food Centre
  • Buddha Tooth Relic Temple Near Chinatown MRT
  • Clarke Quay and Singapore River Cruise
  • Merlion Park (and Anderson Bridge if you have time)
  • Casino in Marina Bay Sands
  • ArtScience Museum
  • Garden By The Bay (Flower Down, Cloud Forest, and Skyway)
  • Helix Bridge
  • Singapore Flyer

Day 2 in Singapore: Sentosa Island

In the second day, I plan to take my wife to Sentosa. Sentosa is a popular island resort in Singapore. If you want to play all the programmes in the island, it may take 3 or 4 days. I only choose the most interesting places such as the Siloso Beach, Southernmost Point of Continental Asia, Luge & Skyride combo, Adventure Cove Waterpark, SEA Aquarium, Universal Studios Singapore and the Casino. Today’s programs are Siloso Beach, Southernmost Point of Continental Asia and Luge & Skyride combo, and the SEA Aquarium.

At night, I will take my wife to Vivo-city for dinner. My friends recommend two restaurants. One is German restaurant, Brotzeit® German Bier Bar & Restaurant. Another one is Spanish restaurant, Serenity Spanish Bar & Restaurant. But they are not cheap. Actually, if you don’t want to try them, I have another option, Clarke Quay. Clarke Quay is fantastic place at night.

In Singapore, there is another place which is worth to pay a visit, the East Coast Park. If you are not living in Singapore, you may not hear about it before. It is a great place for outdoor sport such as cycling and roller-skating. There is a wonderful hawker center East, the East Coast Food Lagoon where you can feast on local favourites like satay and barbecued chicken wings right on the beach.

How To Reach East Coast Park

The traffic to East Coast Park is not as convenient as Sentosa. To reach there we can take MRT East West Line to Bedok Station, then take bus 31 to Lagoon View station. Walk to Laguna Flyover and ture right. Go straight along Laguna Flyover at the left side. You will find a exit in your left side after 5 minutes walking. Please check this map.

Day 3 in Singapore: The Universal Studio

In the morning of day 3, we will go to the Singapore Universal Studio. You can buy the ticket on the spot. The normal ticket price is $74 for adult one day pass. But there are lots of discount if you can book online early. I purchase my Universal Studio ticket on their homepage at $68 per person 3 month ago. You can spend your whole day in Singapore Universal Studio.

Actually, one day is not enough for you to play all the movie themed attractions. Almost every attraction, my wife and I had to wait at least 40 minutes. The longest queue is the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure in The Lost World. It took us around 2 hours to immerse this 5 minutes adventure. I really suggest you to go there early so that you can play more attractions in the whole day.

Day 4 in Singapore: SEA Aquarium and Water Park

In the 4th day, we will go to Sentosa again and visit the SEA Aquarium and Adventure Cove Water Park. The sunlight in Singapore is very strong. If you want to walk on the beach or play in water park, you’d better take sunscreen along with you in the whole day.

My plan today is visiting the SEA Aquarium in a half day, then enjoying the water park in another half day. But we are too lazy to get up early. When we reach Sentosa it is already 2 p.m. So we go the Adventure Cove Water Park first. The water park is a nice place to enjoy the water. We left the water park till they close the whole park at 7 pm.

After that, we visit the SEA Aquarium. The SEA Aquarium close time is 9 pm. But we only spend 1 hour to finish the whole aquarium. But still my wife and I have a great nice day.

Day 5 in Singapore

Shopping in Singapore is always an exciting event. In Singapore, there are lots of place for shopping. In 5th day, we will go to the Orchard Road, the busiest street in Singapore. There are 22 shopping malls and 6 departmental stores along the streets. If you are one of luxury brand fans, the Orchard Road will be the paradise. On the Orchard Road, you can find almost all of the famous luxury brand in the world. If you have short of time, you can choose some of the shopping malls to visit. My recommends are ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City (Takashimaya Shopping Centre), and Paragon.

In the evening, I plan to ride the Singapore Cable Car with my wife, then have dinner on Mount Faber. The Singapore cable car connects the Mount Faber, Harbourfront Tower, and Sentosa. Ride the Cable Car, we can enjoy the great night scene of Mount Faber and Sentosa.

Other Places You Can Visit in Singapore

We have only 5 days in Singapore. So we only pay a visit to the top 10 must-go places in Singapore. If you can stay longer, the following places you must visit.

  • Singapore Night Safari: the world’s first nocturnal zoo and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Singapore.
